The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the class XII Biology exam on March 19, 2024. The three-hour exam started at 10:30 am and ended at 1:30 pm. Students were given 15 minutes – from 1);15 am to 10:30 am to thoroughly read the question paper. The question paper was for 70 marks.

There are 33 questions in the five sections.

Section A – Had 16 questions of 1 mark each

Section B – Had five questions of 2 marks each

Section C – Had seven questions of 3 marks each

Section D – Had two case-based questions of 4 marks each

Section E – Has three questions of 5 marks each

The paper has no overall choice, but there were internal choices for some questions. They had to draw neat and properly labeled diagrams as well.

According to Deepa Sharma, Senior Academic Coordinator at Apeejay School Faridabad in Sector 15, the overall question paper was easy as far as subjective questions were concerned and the objective questions were moderate. The question papers were entirely based on NCERT and followed all CBSE guidelines. This made it easy for the students. If a student was well-prepared, they would be able to score 100 per cent,” the educator said and shared the following analysis in detail.

·         In Section A (MCQs), there were a total of 16 questions; not all were direct, making the objective paper moderate in difficulty — some MCQs had slight twists in them.

·         Section B had 2-mark questions, which were straightforward with no twists.

·         Section C questions were also straightforward.

·         Section D contained a case study that was of moderate level.

·         Section E had 5-mark questions, all of which were straightforward.

·         The paper was not lengthy, and students were able to finish within the allotted time frame.

·         There was a directive for students to draw diagrams if they had extra time, indicating the paper’s manageability in terms of length.

·         There was one direct diagram question in one of the sets. The other two sets didn’t have direct diagram questions.

·         There was an internal choice in all sections, this followed the CBSE guidelines.

·         Compared to last year, this paper was easier.
