In this engaging interview, Prarambhika Sinha, a client servicing official at VML, a part of WPP, provides a glimpse into her role and responsibilities within one of the leading advertising agencies. Prarambhika’s career began with an educational foundation in Advertising and Marketing Communication from Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication. In a fun conversation, she shares her daily tasks, the journey that led her to advertising, and her aspirations for future growth in the industry.

Could you tell me about your role and responsibilities at WPP?

I’m in client servicing at VML, which is part of WPP. My role involves managing tasks related to advertising production. I start my day by organizing job roles, prioritising tasks, and liaising with the studio and creative teams. I oversee the creation and approval of creatives and ensure that all specifications are finalized before releasing the artwork to clients.

So, what inspired you to pursue a career in advertising?

I completed an undergraduate diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism but realized that journalism wasn’t my path. Advertising intrigued me because it involves storytelling and impactful communication. I wanted to be involved in media, and advertising offered a compelling way to influence and connect with people.

What did you study at AIMC, and how did it prepare you for your career?

I studied Advertising and Marketing Communication. The course provided a deep dive into advertising practices and processes. We worked on practical projects like a brand case study, simulating real agency work, which helped me understand the industry better and prepared me for my role in client servicing.

Were you campus placed, and how did your training at AIMC help in your job search?

Yes, I was campus placed. AIMC’s training was instrumental; we had mock interviews and received detailed feedback, which prepared me well for job interviews and group discussions. The teachers also provided support in refining our CVs and interview techniques.

Finally, what are your career aspirations moving forward?

I’m enjoying my current role and the work environment at VML. My goal is to grow within the company, advancing from an executive to a manager and eventually to a director in client servicing. I’m excited about the opportunities for growth and development in this field.
