Abhinav Gupta is a software engineer with Ericsson while his wife Shalini Gupta is a gynaecologist. Their 7-year-old daughter, Anika Gupta, has been studying in class 2 of Apeejay School, Noida since nursery. In an interview, Abhinav shed light on how the school has offered exceptional learning opportunities for students during Covid-19.

Why did you choose Apeejay over other schools?

Apeejay has a good reputation among parents. Its track record in bringing out the best in students is for all to see. Apeejay alumni are placed on top of every field. I also had a positive interaction with schoolteachers during nursery admissions. I didn’t feel the need to take admission guidance from anyone else. That’s the level of trust I had in Apeejay.

You are a techie yourself. So, how do you rate the online learning experience provided by the school?

The school has a fantastic online set up. The classes are held seamlessly on the Zoom platform. What must also be commended is the jerk-free transition from offline to online teaching. Not many schools can boast such bragging rights. The school is leveraging Moodle, an e-learning platform, to create safe, accessible and highly engaging online spaces for young learners. The robust digital infrastructure of Apeejay Noida has made e-learning fun and interactive. Of course, this couldn’t have been made possible without the efforts put in by the teachers.

Talking about teachers. How good are they?

Teachers are great. Anika has an excellent rapport with all her teachers. I would like to specifically mention Ms Sushma Batla, Anika’s class teacher in class 1. She provides support and encouragement to each student. I also love the effortless and constant interaction between students and teachers while maintaining discipline in online classes. Students are taught digital etiquette. Every student gets an opportunity to speak in the class, it’s not as if the select few get to hog the limelight. Teachers even encourage students to raise their doubts after school hours.

Are you satisfied with the progress made by Anika since joining school?

Anika is doing well. Here reading and writing skills have improved immensely. Even during online classes, she is picking up things quickly. Though she is good academically, her focus is also on extracurricular activities. In fact, teachers encourage all students to be active in non-academic domains.

“The best thing I’ve liked about the school is its solid infrastructure and brilliant teachers. They encourage students to think outside the box and give special attention to extracurricular activities, especially sports. Also, there is constant interaction between parents and teachers.”
