Attending counseling sessions is crucial for students planning to study abroad as it provides personalised guidance on academic and career paths. Counsellors offer insights into suitable courses, universities, and career prospects, addressing concerns and helping students make informed decisions. These sessions are invaluable for navigating the complexities of international education and career planning.

Thus, aiming to provide a holistic understanding while guiding students interested in studying abroad, the School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) at Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram, recently organised a career counseling session.

A total of 75 students from different schools of the University attended the session, which was conducted by Mr. Niladari Bhattacharya, a renowned career coach with expertise in international education, from Hayden & Reynott. The main focus of the session was to debunk myths surrounding studying abroad and to provide insights into the admission process.

Further, the career counseling session provided students with accurate information about studying abroad and to address common misconceptions that often deter students from pursuing educational opportunities overseas. Additionally, the session aimed to familiarise students with the admission process, including application requirements, deadlines, and other essential details.

Mr. Niladari Bhattacharya began the session by addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding studying abroad. He emphasised the importance of dispelling these myths to enable students to make informed decisions about their academic and professional pursuits. Some of the myths discussed included concerns about cost, language barriers, and cultural adjustment. Following the discussion on myths, Mr. Bhattacharya provided an overview of the admission process for international universities. He highlighted key steps such as researching universities and programs, preparing application materials (including transcripts, recommendation letters, and standardised test scores), and navigating the visa application process. He also stressed the significance of adhering to application deadlines and seeking guidance from mentors or counselors when needed.

All in all, the career counseling session was a resounding success, effectively fulfilling its objectives of demystifying studying abroad and providing guidance on the admission process.
