Apeejay faculty conducts session on Essentials of Research Publications in Scopus, ABDC, Web of Science

In the two-day online faculty development program, Anuj Kumar, Assistant Prof. from Apeejay School of Management discussed why to conduct research, how to select a topic and more.

Faculty development program (FDP) is considered as a stand-alone educational pedagogy in fostering knowledge and professional skills of faculty. This helps academicians in carrying out their teaching, research or administrative activities in a much effective way.

Along these lines, NSHM School of Business and Management in Durgapur, West Bengal organised a two-day faculty development program on the theme, ‘Essentials of Research Publications in Scopus/ABDC/Web of Science’. Anuj Kumar, Assistant Professor at Apeejay School of Management (ASM) was the resource person for this program. 

The faculty development program that was conducted in a virtual format witnessed participation of more than 60 faculty members from institutes across India and abroad.  “It was an amazing experience to address faculty members from renowned institutes from India and beyond. It was a practical session based on the researcher’s experience wherein participants shared interesting anecdotes on how they had worked on different research topics – the processes they had followed to publish their papers in journals,” added Prof Kumar.

The first day began with an engaging discussion on one of the key topics: “Hurdles in research publication”. Prof. Kumar enlightened the participants about how to select a research topic followed by methods to follow in terms of selecting the journal for publication. He also highlighted plagiarism issues, journal formatting, tracing fake and cloned journals as well as other vital factors related to publications. Further, he shared his own publication experiences with all the participants.

The second day of the faculty development program focused on, “Why to do research publications?” Prof. Kumar elaborated about the importance of conducting research and chalking out the objectives for the same. He also discussed why sharing the research paper on several research platforms is vital and how networking websites like P-rank, Orcid, Researchgate, Google Scholar, Academia, SSRN, Scopus, Publons, etc. can help the researchers. 

Sharing about his experience, Dr. Alok Satsangi, Director of NSHM, Durgapur said, “The two-day Faculty Development Programme witnessed an overwhelming participation from more than 60 participants, out of which, 10 participants were from Delhi-NCR and Kolkata. The talk focused on so many important topics including problem solving techniques of research publications in SCOPUS/ABDC and the web of science with a hands-on approach.”

Dr. Prabha Kiran from Westminster International University, Tashkent said, “It was a thoroughly engaging session that helped me to learn a lot of things. The delivery of the session was very innovative.”

“It was my third faculty development program with Prof. Kumar. I always found him full of energy and motivation,” added Dr. Maninder Kaur, Director of Guru Nanak Institute of Management, Delhi.
