AIS-MUN 2024 unites young leaders in a dynamic dialogue on global issues

The MUN conference held at Apeejay School, Faridabad highlighted the importance of global awareness and fostered a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among young leaders.

Day 1

The much-awaited 8th edition of Apeejay Inter-school Model United Nations (AIS-MUN) commenced with grandeur on the morning of October 18, 2024, at Apeejay School, Faridabad, Sector 15- A.  By setting the stage for an intellectually stimulating and engaging conference the inaugural ceremony captivated the audience with its seamless flow and vibrant performances, leaving everyone excited for the days ahead.

The event began with an opening movie that skilfully set the tone for the conference. As the ceremonial lamp of knowledge was lit, accompanied by the school choir’s melodious tunes, the moment symbolised the spread of spiritual wisdom and enlightenment. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Mr and Mrs Rajiv Mehra, and Mr and Mrs Shakunt Malhotra as Special Guests.

On Day 1, the Secretary General of AIS-MUN 2024, Ananya Mehra, officially declared the conference open. The inaugural ceremony set the perfect tone for a successful and meaningful AIS-MUN conference, filled with thought-provoking discussions and resolutions.

The Principal of the school, Mrs Snehlata Krishnan addressed the gathering with an empowering speech that resonated deeply with the enthusiastic delegates. The school choir then captivated the audience with a soulful performance centred on woman empowerment, setting an inspiring and reflective mood.

Following this, Mr Mehra delivered an emotional address, which was followed by a graceful and motivational dance performance, leaving the audience in awe. The Special Guest, Mr Malhotra, was invited to share his insightful words, which further enriched the experience of the attendees and this culminated Day 1 proceedings.

DAY 2

The second day of the AIS-MUN event held on October 19, 2024, was a vibrant tapestry of spirited discussions and enthusiastic participation. Students deliberated on various national and international critical issues across different classrooms, transforming the school into a hub of intellectual engagement. The halls and corridors bustled with excitement as students eagerly ran around, preparing for their roles as delegates and immersing themselves in the MUN experience.

Delegates from over 30 schools graced the occasion, creating an atmosphere rich in collaboration and diversity. The event encouraged students to mingle, share perspectives, and form connections, enhancing the overall experience for all participants.

Each delegate brought their A-game, delivering impressive performances that showcased their preparation and commitment. The competition was stiff, yet engaging, as students presented well-researched arguments and debated passionately on pressing global issues.

Speaking about the event, Ananya Mehra, Secretary General, MUN expressed, “AIS-MUN was a power-packed conference with 350-plus delegates. The two days were filled with passionate debates, well-articulated points, and meticulous delegation. The secretariat worked round the clock to make this event what it was. Every member was diligent and hardworking making the conference a successful one. The recreational dance night (socials) were the cherry on the top, a perfect way to close the curtains on two spectacular days of debate and competition.”

On Day 2 the Chief Guest was Sonal Goel, an IAS officer from the 2008 batch, at present, serving as the Secretary of the Government of Tripura in New Delhi. An accomplished author, she holds multiple degrees, including an LLM and an MA in Public Policy, she is also a Web Wonder Woman and a TEDx speaker. Additionally, she serves as an honorary advisor for the BRICS CCI Young Leaders Forum. Her presence at the event was a source of inspiration for all participants.

Expressing her thoughts about the conference, Ms Goel shared, “Such platforms enable students to develop leadership skills and equip them to work in teams. Students should always have a positive mindset that will help them resolve many challenges that life will throw at them. It is your determination, your passion and your positive self-belief which will always drive you. You, students, are the pillars of a nation’s growth and development and are instrumental in bringing the vision of Viksit Bharat a reality.”

Sharing about the importance of this conference, Harsh Malhotra, Chief Advisor, MUN said, “This year at AIS-MUN, we broke multiple records. We have marked the highest delegate participation to date. Our social media account blew up this year, reaching a record-high two million impressions on Instagram. Although a conference never comes without challenges, managing last-minute logistics with the team has always been a source of team building as working with each other on the ground has led to a lot of memories being made and bonds being built.

The winners of the AIS-MUN conference are as follows: Modern DPS International School, Sector 87, Faridabad – Best School Delegation; Sahaj Sukhani MVN88 – Secretary General – Best Delegate from the same school.
