For educators, setting goals is second nature. Our students often understand the goals and expectations for completing assignments, performing well in tests and competitions, and committing to class projects.

But how often do we take a step further and lead them through a goal-setting activity that’s more future-oriented? It’s often said that people who write down their goals are more likely to achieve them. To make students understand the difference between short-term and long-term goals, I conducted a session for the students of the Middle Year Programme.

After explaining the difference between the two, students were asked to write down their short-term and long-term goals. When students set short- and long-term goals, they can see a path to the success they hope for.

The special session helped young adults understand that they can overcome small failures through hard work while focusing on their goals.
