Tanya Taneja is a pharmacist at Guardian Pharmacy, located at Terminal 2 in the Delhi Airport. She is a proud alumnus of the Apeejay Stya University, having pursued a Diploma in Pharmacy. In a quick tele-interview, the pharmacist gives us an insight into her day and how she manages to successfully handle over 200 customers in a day. Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about your day at work?

I work nine hours per day, from 8 am to 5 pm. It is a very demanding job to be a pharmacist.  I manage the patients, deal with the customers, take care of their medical prescriptions and the medicines.

It is a very unique career choice. What was the inspiration?

I wanted to work for the patients and give them support to improve their medical conditions. I was always good at dealing with them.

How did ASU help in this journey?

By giving knowledge about the world of medicines. The practicals I undertook at ASU trained me well to become a pharmacist.

How many customers do you deal with on an average day?

Around 200-500 customers I think. Mostly the customers ask for cough and cold medicines, for fever and body pain.

The world is scared that it might witness another Covid wave. As a pharmacist, what would you advise people?

Build your immunity, it will help keep diseases away. Eat vitamin C rich food. Keep your diet healthy, especially now!
