Meet Mrs Sunanda Sharma, mother of Yakshit Sharma, a Class XII student at Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad. Having entrusted both her sons’ education to Apeejay School, she reflects on the school’s holistic approach, the unwavering support of its teachers, and the nurturing environment that has shaped Yakshit’s academic journey, sporting achievements, and overall development into a confident young individual.

How has your journey with Apeejay School, Faridabad, been so far?

It has been wonderful. My elder son also studied at Apeejay School, so both my children have been a part of the Apeejay School family. We have had a brilliant experience over the years. What I appreciate the most is the school’s emphasis on the overall development of every child. Equal importance is given to academics as well as co-curricular activities, helping students grow into confident and well-rounded individuals.

What makes this school stand out for you?

The holistic approach towards education is what I value the most. The school not only focuses on academic excellence but also encourages students to pursue their interests and talents. This balanced approach has played a significant role in my son’s overall growth and personality development.

Tell us about Yakshit and his aspirations.

Yakshit is in Class XII and has opted for Commerce with Mathematics. Alongside academics, he is an international Taekwondo player and has won nearly 80–90 medals since he started the sport in Class III. The school has consistently encouraged and appreciated his sporting achievements. At present, he is preparing for competitive examis such as CUET and IPMAT, and as parents, we fully support whichever career path he chooses.

How has the school supported Yakshit’s interests beyond academics?

The school has always recognised and celebrated his achievements in Taekwondo. Whether it was participation in tournaments or winning medals, the encouragement from teachers and the school administration motivated him to continue excelling in sports while balancing his studies.

How has your experience been with the teachers and the school leadership?

The teachers have always been extremely cooperative and approachable. They patiently listen to parents’ concerns and genuinely value our feedback. Since students are teenagers, they sometimes face challenges, and the teachers are always willing to guide them. I have also interacted with the Principal and found her very supportive. Yakshit continues to share a warm bond with many of his teachers, even those who taught him in earlier classes, which reflects the positive and caring environment at the school.

How involved are you in Yakshit’s academic journey?

I run a coaching centre and personally teach him Accountancy and Business Studies. This allows us to spend productive time together while helping him prepare for his board examinations and future entrance tests.

How do you balance your professional responsibilities with family life?

Despite my work schedule, we follow a few simple family traditions. We have dinner together every evening, and everyone is expected to be home by 8:30 pm. Sundays are completely dedicated to family, and I do not schedule tuition classes on that day. I believe spending quality time with children is essential, irrespective of their age.

What message would you like to share with other parents?

Parents should always stay connected with their children, especially during their teenage years. Open communication, spending time together, and supporting their choices help build confidence and strengthen family relationships.

As Yakshit prepares to graduate, how do you feel?

It is certainly an emotional phase because these school years have passed so quickly. Apeejay School has always been my first choice, and our family has created countless wonderful memories here. Looking back, I feel proud and grateful for the nurturing environment the school has provided. We are completely satisfied with our journey at Apeejay School, Faridabad, and will always cherish this association.
