For this parent, choosing Apeejay Svran Global School was a natural decision. Her husband had selected the school, as their elder brother-in-law’s sons have been studying here from the start. Their positive experience strongly influenced the family’s choice. In a candid interview, Gurpreet Kour, mother of Samarveer, shares a positive experience with this school. The fact that the school is nearby is an added advantage for this parent.
How do you find the school’s approach towards education?

Initially, it was a little difficult because it takes time for children to settle into a new environment. But over time, I’ve seen a lot of progress in my child. He goes to school happily now. During his nursery days, the teacher took special care of him, and that made a big difference. The transition to the new class used to make my son anxious, but now he has adapted well. I’m satisfied with the way he’s learning.
What has your child learnt so far?
He’s doing really well in both Math and English. He has learnt sight words and basic reading skills — for example, he can read three-letter words. He also practises writing properly; his teachers guide him in keeping his writing straight and neat. He knows numbers, backwards counting, and greater than and less than concepts.
How does the school support his individual learning pace?
Every child learns differently, and the teachers understand that. Whenever he struggles with something, they patiently guide him. Occasionally I feel he takes somewhat longer to grasp a topic, but the teachers are supportive and ensure that he doesn’t feel left behind.
How do you find the communication between teachers, students, and parents?
The communication is excellent. Initially, he was attached to his nursery teacher and wanted to continue studying only with her. The teachers handled that transition sensitively and made him comfortable in his new class. Now, he likes his current teacher as well and often tells me how much he enjoys learning from her.
Are there any values your child has learnt at school?
Apart from academics, the school emphasises manners and values. He has learnt to say “thank you” and “welcome”, and he understands the importance of being polite. The teachers also encourage independence; now he does many things on his own without asking for help.
Have you noticed any changes in her confidence or personality?
Yes, I’ve seen many positive changes. Samarveer has become more confident, open, and expressive. He enjoys participating in activities like dance and music classes. He even likes playing on the ground, though he sometimes prefers indoor activities. Overall, his confidence and social skills have improved a lot since he started school.
