Apeejay School, Model Town, recently organised a colourful Folklore Day celebration, where the school campus transformed into a lively stage of stories, legends, and heritage. The event was designed to nurture creativity, imagination, and cultural awareness among students, while also building their confidence through performance and storytelling.
The young participants came dressed as their favourite characters, ranging from timeless fairy tale icons like Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Alibaba to India’s revered freedom fighters such as Chandrashekhar Azad and Rani Lakshmibai. Each performance reflected not only enthusiasm but also the ability of children to bring stories alive with expression, dialogue, and emotion.
A stage for learning and creativity
The event served as more than just a stage performance. For the children, it was an opportunity to learn about values such as courage, honesty, and resilience. By embodying different characters, they stepped into worlds of fantasy and history, discovering lessons of bravery and compassion. Teachers highlighted that such activities play a crucial role in the holistic development of students, as they sharpen communication skills, boost self-esteem, and encourage teamwork.
What made the celebration unique was the beautiful blend of fairy tales and real-life heroes. While fairy tales inspired imagination, the portrayals of legendary freedom fighters instilled pride in India’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Students not only enjoyed dressing up in sparkling costumes but also understood the deeper meaning behind the characters they represented.

Fostering values through stories
Events like Folk Lore Day reaffirm the school’s commitment to experiential learning. Storytelling, whether through drama or narration, remains one of the most powerful ways to teach children moral values and cultural wisdom. By participating, students not only honed their creative abilities but also learned the importance of empathy, patriotism, and respect for traditions.
The day concluded with applause, laughter, and smiles, as every child carried home the joy of performance and the lessons of heritage. Folklore Day at Apeejay School, Model Town, thus became a celebration of imagination, inspiration, and identity – shaping young learners into confident, value-driven individuals.
