Debating is more than a clash of arguments—it is a celebration of logic, confidence, and the courage to question. At the school level, debate cultivates not just public speaking skills, but also the ability to think critically and respect differing opinions. Upholding this spirit, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, organised a spirited Inter-House English Debate Competition for middle school students.

The topic—“Do higher grades only ensure success in life?”—was both timely and relevant, sparking rich discussions on the evolving definitions of achievement in the 21st century. Each of the four houses fielded two representatives: one to speak for and the other against the motion. The participants impressed with their thoughtful perspectives, evidence-based arguments, and poise on stage.

The house teams presented a diverse spectrum of opinions. Some argued convincingly that academic excellence serves as the launchpad for future opportunities, while others made a strong case for qualities like creativity, emotional intelligence, and resilience as the true markers of success. The debate was marked by logical reasoning, passionate delivery, and an atmosphere of mutual respect.

In a closely fought contest, Bharat of Class 6 from Gautam House emerged as the Best Debater, earning accolades for his compelling delivery and clarity of thought. The second position went to Riyanshi of Class 8, Vivekananda House, who articulated her arguments with impressive confidence. Priyanshi of Class 6, also from Gautam House, secured the third spot, with judges applauding her balanced and persuasive speech.

The event was graced by Dr. Vineet Vasishtha, Principal of the school, who commended the participants for their eloquence and insight. He encouraged students to continue sharpening their communication skills, noting that such platforms are instrumental in building the leaders of tomorrow.

The debate concluded with resounding applause for the students and the dedicated organising team. More than a contest of opinions, the day became a springboard for deeper reflection on what it truly means to succeed in life.

“I am immensely proud of our students for their outstanding performances in the Inter-House English Debate competition. Each participant showcased clarity of thought and the courage to voice their opinions. Events like these build confidence and critical thinking—skills essential for success beyond the classroom. Congratulations to all the winners and heartfelt appreciation to every student who took part. Keep striving, keep speaking!”
