School days—those golden years filled with friendships, lessons, and the first spark of ambition! For Amrit Kaur Sangha, an alumna of Apeejay School, Rama Mandi,Jalandhar these years laid the foundation for her journey into medicine. Now a third-year dental student at Gian Sagar Dental College and Hospital, Punjab, Amrit looks back on her formative years with fondness. In this insightful conversation, she shares her experiences, aspirations, and a heartfelt message for students walking the same path.
What are your fondest memories of your days at Apeejay Rama Mandi?
Oh, they were some of the best years of my life! I studied there for 12 years, made amazing friends, and had a lot of fun. The school environment was so positive, and looking back, I truly miss those days!
Did you always know you wanted to become a doctor?
Not always, but by the time I reached Class 11, I was certain. That was when the idea of becoming a doctor really took root. My family was incredibly supportive, and that gave me the confidence to chase my dream.
What subjects and activities did you enjoy the most?
Biology was always my favourite subject—I loved everything about it! Apart from academics, I was also passionate about basketball and played for my school. Balancing sports and studies taught me a lot about discipline and time management.
What are your next career moves?
Right now, I’m focused on completing my degree, but my bigger goal is to pursue higher education in the United States. I’m actively working towards making that a reality.
Any advice for students who aspire to enter the medical field?
Study well, but don’t just chase marks! The knowledge you gain is far more important in the long run. Stay consistent, keep learning, and never lose sight of your goal. It’s a tough journey, but it’s absolutely worth it!
