My Best Friend!!

“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark than walk alone in the light,” said Helen Keller. For me, National Best Friend Day is a new festival that l had never heard of before. However, choosing just one best friend was a challenge. It was difficult for me not to include all my friends. They are all the best in their own way! Finally, l chose Sasthi Shetty, a fifth-standard student of Apeejay school, because we are close and have a lot in common.

Both Sasthi and l are interested in academic studies and love playing sports. She is also a lot of fun to be with! I first met her at a restaurant when my classmate, Keshav Rai, invited both of us to his younger sister’s birthday party.
When school reopened after the summer vacation, we realised we were in the same section for fourth standard! Not only that, we also ended up in the same house – Ruby House. That only made our bond stronger.
Sasthi is very helpful. We used to help each other in completing our classwork if we could not finish or were absent. That is how we became good friends! Sasthi has a cute, younger sister called Shestha. She is outgoing for her age. I love to play with her whenever l meet her. Through our interactions, our mothers have become friends and our fathers have met each other too.
Sasthi even invited me to her birthday party. I made friends with Aarya and Aanya Singh who also study in Apeejay School. It was a wonderful evening! Soon afterward, I signed up for handball classes after school. When Sasthi found out, she wanted to join too. I was very excited! Before every handball class would begin, Sasthi and l would take turns and come up with creative games to play. We had a great time just talking and laughing! With practice, we got better at handball together.
After some time, both of us got selected for the inter-school handball team. We played many matches together. They were memorable experiences! We learned about teamwork and how to support each other for a larger goal.
So now, we are both excelling at a sport that we enjoy playing. Sadly, this year our sections have been changed. But that will not affect our friendship.
As L.M. Montgomery said, “True friends are always together in spirit.”
