Ms Maysoun Chehab, Education Programme Specialist at the UNESCO Multi-sectoral Regional Office in Beirut, appeared on Al Hurra channel’s “Al-Youm” programme to discuss the UNESCO’s recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education. The recommendation urges governments to regulate the use of AI in classrooms.

She emphasised the global significance of these recommendations as an ethical framework for AI use and its role in reinforcing relevant policies and education legislation.

Furthermore, Chehab underscored the role of schools in adapting to the AI revolution and stressed the importance of collaboration between education authorities and stakeholders. This collaboration aims to equip AI users with essential life skills for rational and ethical technology use in the classroom.

Chehab concluded by noting the necessity of human oversight in AI use within schools and universities. She also highlighted the importance of integrating AI-based educational methods with both modern and traditional tools, ensuring learners’ holistic development and meeting their human, social, and emotional needs.
