The Apeejay Group and patriotism: A timeless bond

The Apeejay Education Group is no stranger to patriotism. After all, the Group’s Founder-Chairman Dr Stya Paul was himself a freedom fighter in his own light. While many know about Dr Stya Paul’s freedom activism in the pre-independence days. Not many are aware that during the Apeejay Solidarity March held after the Kargil War in 1999, Dr Paul walked alongside 6000 students, embodying his unyielding support for the jawans of the nation. Dr Stya Paul left behind a legacy of excellence and at present, this legacy is carried forward by Dr Paul’s daughter and only child Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson of Apeejay Stya Group and Apeejay Svran Group.

The Apeejay Education Group knows that there cannot be any freedom in the world if there is no freedom from within. For it is only the free-human who fights with himself/herself to overcome the darkness within and rise in a new dawn.

In sync with the Founder Chairman’s vision for nation-building through man-making, the HR department of Apeejay Education organised an interestingly unique contest – Pledge to embrace freedom from within.

As part of this contest, all employees had to introspect and identify one facet of their life where they sought an inner-liberation. Employees then had to articulate their pledge in words at the whiteboard installed in the head office at Panchsheel Park. The pledge written in English or Hindi sought to encapsulate one’s struggle for an inward renaissance. 

The contest was a point of inner awakening amongst several employees. The whiteboard saw more than 50 responses, among which many stood out for their crisp articulation and deep running emotions. The judges Ms. Usha, Mr. Amitava Misra, Mr. Raja Ghoshal and Ms. Deepti Sardana had a tough time deciding the top entries. 

However, after much discussion and deliberation the panel declared Mr. N.N. Nayyar and Mr. Deepak Bhalla as joint winners of the contest. Both winners were awarded with Amazon gift vouchers.

And this determination and grit have always been an inspiration for us at Apeejay to achieve greater heights. We, at the organisation, are simply following in the footsteps of our Founder Chairman, and we hope that through these little endeavours, we are able to soar to a higher pinnacle of
self-growth and improvement in our lives. With the support and blessings of our honourable Chairperson Ma’am, we were successful in taking this initiative.”
