Winter is a season known for its cold temperatures. In this season, a particular period provides a break from our daily rituals – Winter Vacation. Regardless of age, the desire for leisure after months of hard work remains constant. The winter break, anticipated annually, offers a brief respite for relaxation and enjoyment. The unique features of the winter season are undeniable, making it a cherished time for both children and adults. While winter in freezing areas can be challenging, in the northern hemisphere, it brings warmth through celebrations and festive joy.

Despite being a shorter vacation—lasting only two weeks—winter breaks are highly valued. In comparison, summer vacations are longer but coincide with extremely hot weather conditions. Personally, I eagerly await this season and the associated vacation every year. I take delight in the opportunity to savor various hot meals prepared by my mother. Last year, our family planned a visit to Manali during the winter vacation, a special journey for me. I looked forward to experiencing the beauty of winter in the mountains, engaging in activities like cycling, ice hockey, and skating.

Despite having to prepare for an upcoming final exam, I created a study routine and brought along necessary books. The routine, diligently followed during the vacation, allowed me to complete the syllabus—credit to my strict yet supportive mom. Our journey to Manali commenced with pre-booked tickets to secure confirmed seats. The 6-hour flight from our location to Manali left me eager to witness the enchanting beauty of the mountainous region.

Manali, situated in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, surpassed my expectations with its snow-capped peaks and valleys. The awe on my face upon entering the city reflected my admiration for its beauty. We stayed at the JW Marriott hotel, approximately 2 hours away from the airport. Manali, nestled at an altitude of 2,050 m near the Beas River, appeared as a mini paradise to someone accustomed to living in the plains.

Our visit included exploring nearby areas with stunning snow-clad mountainous peaks, capturing memories through photography. The clean and unpolluted atmosphere added to the charm. The following day, we visited numerous temples in the valley, marveling at the region’s rich cultural heritage. Evenings at the hotel were spent around a bonfire, playing games and enjoying the preparations for dinner. The locals exhibited kindness, contributing to the overall positive experience.

During the week-long stay, we explored various scenic locations, creating lasting memories through photographs. Time seemed to fly, and it was soon time to return home. Although leaving was bittersweet, the satisfaction of a memorable winter vacation lingered. The journey became an enduring memory, and I aspire to revisit the place every winter, cherishing not only the scenic beauty but also the quality time spent with my family. The beauty of the place and the taste of the food continue to bring a smile to my face.
