International Dance Day is annually celebrated on April 29, which was established by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) to celebrate the art of dance globally. The day aims to promote dance as an art form, encourage participation and education in dance, and bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds through movement and rhythm. Dance is a form of physical exercise that promotes cardiovascular health, flexibility, and coordination.

Celebrating International Dance Day in schools is more than just a commemoration of movement, rather it serves as a celebration of diversity, creativity, and well-being. By integrating dance into the educational experience, schools provide students with invaluable tools for personal growth, cultural enrichment, and lifelong appreciation of the arts.

To encapsulate the essence of dance, Apeejay School, Noida celebrated the day with immense zeal and fervour with the students of class V. The event commenced with the grand welcome offered by the Primary In-charge of the school followed by a prayer dedicated to the significance of the day.

The primary objective of this celebration was to foster students’ interest in and appreciation for various dance styles, whether Classical or Western. To commemorate this occasion, the young dancers displayed their exceptional talent.  A special assembly was held to honour International Dance Day, featuring the enthusiastic participation of class V students.

They delivered a captivating performance of a Russian waltz dance. Parents of the participants were also invited to attend and support their children during this inspiring event.

Following this, the Principal of the school, Ms Ritu Kohli took the opportunity to commend the students for their efforts and talent. She also shared valuable parenting tips with the attending parents, encouraging their involvement in such events as a source of motivation for the children. She emphasised the importance of parental appreciation and expressed eagerness for increased parental participation in future events, underscoring how much the students value their support and encouragement.
