‘Seasons’: Poem by Aarish, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar

Life is full of flowers, sometimes they grow, sometimes they rot
Burning earth, boiling ocean, everything is hotter,
Water is drunk by a huge thirsty monster,
We lather all day, causing exhaustion.
The roars of the monster scare us,
All the people say ‘Spare us!’
Then unknowingly, time passes by,
Comes the rain
To quench the thirst of the thirsty Earth
The flowers bloom, people begin to cherish,
The melody of the birds, nightingale, reminds me of my parrot whom I adored,
Oh! My dear peacocks, since when did you all start dancing merrily ?
Even the trees, are singing happily,

Uh! Again the fall season!
Before it arrived all the leaves started to fall down,
Oh no! The nests of the birds begin to fall, causing them to fly nearby town
Trees become as old as the hills causing the wood decay
Leaves, branches, stems and roots begin to die, because of macro fungi,

Leaves are burnt to release nutrients into the soil

Making it rich in minerals for the plants, which is essential.
Also burnt for fire, like in a campfire, making them substantial.

Finally, the last month of the year,
It is as cold as an ice cube just brought from Antarctica,
The kids play various activities like skiing, skating and many more

But only in the Arctica,
The snow begins to fall, the streets begin to fill up, like in Siberia,
Now no one can destroy this sheet of white blanket

Even the hungry monster or some kind of bacteria,
This cycle of season goes on and on,

Reminding us of the cycle of life on this Earth
A child is born, a man is gone, the cycle of death and birth
Goes on…
