Harshita Singla is enjoying life at the moment. A busy Cashier at the Axis Bank, Model Town, Jalandhar branch, Harshita pursued her MBA in Marketing and Finance from Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC).  In a quick interview, the alumna of the batch of 2022 speaks about her transformation from an introverted girl into a confident manager, who is currently dealing with numerous clients at the bank everyday. Edited excerpts:

Tell us about your work profile at the bank?

I am a Cashier currently. So, as you can guess, I have to interact with a lot of people everyday. There are different day-to-day challenges at work, but we try to achieve the business targets within the deadlines allotted to us. Therefore, it is essential that we communicate effectively with the clients so that they invest in the bank schemes and policies. We have to retain the existing customer by providing them good services as well as bring in new clients. It is a very demanding work profile.

Were you always interested in the finance sector?

Yes, I have always wanted to work in the banking sector. I feel there is a lot of scope for the growth of an individual in this industry. I am certain it will help immensely in my career growth.

Some key lessons you learnt during your MBA at AIMETC?

I learnt a lot to be honest. However, primarily, my confidence was boosted a lot at AIMETC. I was very introverted initially, but the numerous group activities and sessions conducted at the college helped me increase and polish my communications skills. We were taught effective communication and this skill has helped me in both life and career.

One success mantra for a current student?

Join every activity and participate in every session because you’ll eventually realise how it goes on to help you immensley in the future.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I want to experience more growth in my work. I want to become a senior manager with time and also aim to develop my communication skills more to achieve that.

Finally, a quick word about the campus interview process. Any tips?

A lot of companies came to the AIMETC campus during the recruitment phase. Axis Bank is a big brand name, so I was excited to apply there. This job that I have got is a big opportunity for me.  I want to make the most of it.
