Wow! So tell us the thought behind your poem: To know the depth of the ocean?

The poem To know the depth of the ocean explores the fascination and mystery of the ocean’s vastness. It begins with the idea that understanding the ocean is like participating in nature’s dance. The poem emphasises the hidden secrets and diverse life beneath the waves, portraying the ocean as an infinite and boundless space. Each dive is seen as an opportunity to uncover more wonders, fostering a sense of curiosity and passion for exploration. The poem also calls for responsible care of the ocean, highlighting its fragility. Ultimately, it expresses a deep emotional connection to the ocean, portraying it as a rare and precious gift that deserves admiration and protection.

Your favourite poet and poem?

My favourite poet is William Wordsworth and my favourite poem is I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by him.

Your preference – rhyme or free verse?

I like free verse as it provides us with more flexibility in expression, allowing us to experiment with language, rhythm, and form. This form of poetry often feels more conversational and closer to natural speech. It places a greater emphasis on the poet’s unique voice and the message they aim to convey.

Writing poems in the day or night?

I prefer writing poems during night because of the quiet and reflective hours of the night, where the world is more serene, and creativity can flow undisturbed. The night often offers a sense of solitude.

How does your school help you to write such lovely poems?

My English teacher Mrs.Moumita Malik Sen guides me wherever I cannot pen down my expressions and thoughts in the correct way.

How do you approach writing a poem? What are your common writing themes?

Whenever I am free from my academic duties and have different thoughts, ideas and views in mind, I write them and later collect them all and try to form poetry out of it.
