Parth Chaturvedi from Apeejay School, Noida has scored an astonishing score of 646 marks at the NEET 2024 exams. He started with his self study at 4:30 each morning and credits a committed approach to self study as the pillar of his success. In a fun conversation, Parth speaks about his preparation cycle and how his pet dog Simba helped him manage exam stress. Read edited excerpts:

Parth, how did you prepare to get such an amazing score?

Consistent practice and dedication towards what you believe in made me achieve this score. I studied for 10-12 hours in the last phase of the preparation. But my preparation began from class 11. I studied the NCERT textbooks thoroughly and that gave me a strong base in all subjects.

I slept for 8 hours, had school for 6 hours and it was followed by 8 hours of self study. I used to wake up at 4:30 am and start preparation earlier than anyone else. That also made the difference.

Did you divide study hours subject wise?

I focussed on what I was struggling on at the time. I gave 5 hours to Physics during the initial phase of preparation, as that needed more attention.

And what role did the teachers play in your NEET journey?

My school teachers were always there for me. I used to show up outside their cabin and not until they resolved all my doubts. They encouraged me so much and also made sure I was not over-confident, so they also gave constructive criticism about my preparation.

But how did you manage exam stress?

I credit my parents for it. They never pressurrised me. I chose my goals and so I had to never struggle with motivation. But whenever stress or frustration got near, I took my pet dog Simba out for a walk, played with him and that helped me release any anxiety within.

So, next step in the career pathway?

I will pursue MBBS if I secure a good government college but I also performed great in the CUET exams. Hence, I am keeping my options open. But my primary wish is to pursue medicine. Let’s see how things go!
