Sports significantly contribute to economic and social development, a role well-recognised by governments. It creates numerous job opportunities, offering an alternative path to success beyond academics. Additionally, engaging in sports promotes physical activity, and team-based sports enhances socialisation and teamwork skills.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic profoundly impacted the sports sector two years ago. The Covid-induced lockdown and social distancing norms reduced outdoor activities drastically. This led to a lack of exercise with young individuals increasingly feeling isolated. They also started lacking contact with friends.

This not only affected athletes but also those involved in
sports-related services such as travel, tourism, infrastructure, transportation, catering, media broadcasting, and training. Sports professionals faced many challenges in receiving proper training due to the pandemic. Additionally, the cancellation of sports events deprived many of the social benefits associated with them.

Despite the challenges, there was a gradual resumption of sports events with necessary precautions such as maintaining bio-bubbles for players. As the situation improved, the stadiums witnessed the return of energetic crowds. We anticipated a gradual return to normalcy in the sports world with careful and steady steps.
