Eat Right: Healthy oatmeal recipes your child will enjoy

Kids may not enjoy having oatmeal unless it titillates their taste buds. To inculcate the habit of healthy eating in children, parents can find out ways to use healthy alternatives in their favourite foods. You can also make new and innovative dishes using the same ingredients.

One such ingredient is oatmeal which can be easily incorporated into many recipes. The high fibre and nutrient content in oatmeal provide many benefits to children. It aids digestion, prevents constipation, and promotes overall well-being.

Deepika Dua Arora, dietician, Mutation Diet Clinic, whose child is a student of Apeejay School International, Delhi, recommended the following easy-to-make oatmeal recipes that kids will love.

Method

  • Roast rolled oats and grind them into a fine powder.
  • Add the egg whites to the oatmeal.
  • Add milk, a few drops of stevia, baking powder, a drop of vanilla essence and some cinnamon powder
  • Mix all the ingredients well and then add the grated apple.
  • Take a non-stick pan and pour the batter into it. Cook for a minute, flip, and then let it cook for another minute.

Method

  • Coarsely grind moong dal sprouts and transfer them into a bowl.
  • Grind garlic, ginger, chopped onions and coriander leaves into a coarse mixture.
  • Add the mixture to the dal. Add green chillies, all the vegetables, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, and oatmeal powder. Mix the ingredients well.
  • Take a portion of the mixture and shape it into a round ball with your hands. Cook in a non-stick pan or air fryer. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
