On September 13, 2023, Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, inaugurated the Skill India Digital (SID), a comprehensive digital platform aimed at transforming India’s education, skills, job market, and entrepreneurial landscape. The platform represents the aspirations of countless Indians seeking better opportunities and a brighter future, offering industry-relevant training, employment prospects, and entrepreneurial support, as per an official statement.

SID stands as India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for the development of skills, education, employment, and entrepreneurship. It is driven by the goal of advancing skill development through innovation, accessibility, and customisation, with a specific emphasis on digital technology and Industry 4.0 skills.

As per news sources, the platform is seamlessly in sync with the goals set forth in the G20 framework, aiming to establish DPI and cultivate a digital economy that champions digital skills and literacy. Moreover, it acts as a centralised knowledge repository for all government endeavours associated with skill development and entrepreneurship. This positions it as the foremost resource for individuals looking to augment their careers and pursue lifelong learning opportunities.
