Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, invited parents of classes X-A and X-B for a Coffee Morning. These meetings have proved to be fruitful platforms to clear concerns, discuss the progress of students, and outline the school’s changing methodologies and plans while teaching.

During the session, parents put forth some key observations on the learning habits of their children. Most noted that their children heavily relied on written assignments and YouTube sessions to afford them sufficient understanding of the materials provided. The students could answer long-answer questions but had a hard time with objective questions.

The parents also suggested that the school should keep assignment solutions on Moodle that would further assist in improving understanding of the problems. They also raised some concerns about rising technology usage. Parents wanted the school to teach pupils about how to effectively balance screen time with teachers.

According to Amrita HajelaVice-principal: “Coffee Mornings at school with parents play a unique role in fostering holistic development. They provide a relaxed environment for parents and teachers to communicate openly, share concerns, and celebrate children’s achievements. This nurtures a strong support system for students, promoting their emotional and social well-being. Plus, it encourages parents to become more involved in their child’s education, which can lead to better academic outcomes. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Principal Shares Updates on Exam Strategies and Study Tips

In response, the Principal shared valuable insights. She clearly stated that the students must practice Multiple Choice Questions and Assertion-Reason-based questions as they are an integral part of Boards. For gaining this kind of practice, she recommended using only the NCERT textbook along with one reference book, keeping off the multiple books burden.

She showed what practical approaches towards study look like. She made it clear that students should have a notebook for every subject and have the main points recorded so that they can revise easily. The Principal also suggested making weekly to-do lists and sticking to schedule.

Creative Methods of Teaching and Translucency of Learning

The Principal highlighted that dynamic teaching and learning strategies were adopted that include flipped classes, peer learning, and collaborative group work. She assured parents that all lessons delivered by teachers are well-prepared with resources such as education videos uploaded regularly on Moodle for easy access. The high and low achievers are also encouraged to get tailor-made assignments. The Principal urged the parents to stay supportive and have faith in the children’s capabilities for success.

Overall, the Coffee Morning was an enriching experience. The event reflects Apeejay School’s commitment towards fostering strong partnerships with parents, so students thrive academically and personally.
