Why learning money management is crucial for students is because it empowers them with financial literacy, instills discipline in managing resources, and helps make informed decisions about investments and career paths. This knowledge is foundational for navigating the complexities of the financial world and ensuring a secure and successful future.

Thus, to familiarise students on the same,  the Finance Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, recently organised a two-day workshop on “Money Management & Career Awareness.” Conducted  in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Management (NISM), the workshop was attended by students from BBA, B Com (H), BCA, B.Tech, MBA, and MCA courses.

The speaker for the first day of the workshop was Ms. Anita Saini, a Securities Market Trainer with SEBI. The expert on day two was Mr. Nagesh Kumar, a CS, CFA, and CMA (Inter), who delivered an insightful session on the nuances of the Financial Market. Mr. Kumar provided comprehensive insights into mutual funds, SEBI regulator, and the do’s and Don’ts of investments. His teaching style garnered high praise as he explained market mechanisms, placing emphasis on resource diversification for risk mitigation. The workshop aimed not only to impart financial knowledge but also to assist students in understanding their risk appetite for success and enhancing their overall personality.

The workshop extended beyond financial education, delving into personality development and increasing awareness of career opportunities in the securities market. Attended by students from diverse disciplines, the event covered a spectrum of topics including financial planning, investment strategies, mutual funds, and risk management.

The two-day workshop also featured interactive sessions including quizzes and Q&A segments that witnessed active participation while fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Dr. Anu Sahi, Convenor of the Finance Club, Ms. Hardeep Kaur, Faculty Coordinator from the School of Management, and dedicated student coordinators played pivotal roles in the workshop’s success.

In the end, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, encouraged students to actively engage in such extracurricular activities for comprehensive development. He also appreciated the Finance Club for their coordination and dedication in organising this significant event.
