This school celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in a unique way

It is indeed a very joyous week for all as the entire nation celebrates 75 years of independence. Every academic institution is painted in the colours of joy and so is Apeejay School, Nerul. The school celebrated the patriotic fervour through a special assembly based on the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. 

The honourable guests for the programme were Academic coordinator Mrs Shakuntala Singh and Primary coordinator K C Vijayalakshmi.

The special assembly commenced on a pious note with the daily prayers, followed by class 10 student Rishabh Jalan sharing thought for the day with the audience. Class 8 students Nishant Roy and Deepit Patra  read out the news headlines of the day and Somerup Kundu of class 8 serenaded the gathering with his melodious voice, awakening a spirit of patriotism in all .

Tarushi Aggarwal was the comparer for the assembly. Speaking about the assembly she said, “There were so many diverse events such as music, quiz and speech. It invoked a sense of patriotism in all. We all must serve the country in our lifetime. I want to become a doctor and help the country in the field of medicine.”

Pumping in more excitement and to make all aware about the glorious heritage of India, class 9 students Avani Teggi and Anushri Virkar conducted a quiz on the theme ‘Incredible India’. They asked several interesting questions on various heritage sites across the country as well as on legendary figures who contributed to the welfare of the nation. Avani Teggi mentioned, “I asked many interesting questions but the one about the history of Jim Corbett National Park got the best response from the audience. It was a great experience and I got to learn about my country in many new ways as I prepared for this quiz.” 

Further, Anushree Virkar said, “It was an excellent experience. The main aim of the quiz was to instill a spirit of patriotism in all the students and to make them curious to learn more about India. These days we know more about the world but less about our nation.”

Class 8 student Anushka Pandey spurred a surge of patriotism in the hearts of all with a thunderous speech on “Azadi ka Swarnim Itihaas” .The programme was brought to a grand end with the singing of the national anthem which made all in the audience emotional and reiterated the message that the nation comes above all. 

At the same time, the Primary wing of the school also joined in the patriotic fervour as students took part in a plethora of activities. Students sang along in unison to the song  ‘Nanha Munna Rahi Hu’ and cheered for the nation. 

The pre-primary Coordinator spoke about ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsava’ and discussed the struggle that the freedom fighters had to face to achieve independence and thereby requested the students to always respect the National leaders.  

Junior Kindergarten and Class 1 students were shown a PowerPoint Presentation explaining the history of Independence Day and the contribution of our great leaders. The children learned about different leaders and saluted their efforts.

 Senior Kindergarten students prepared a tricolour flag honing their creativity through a paper tearing activity and learning about the significance  of the tricolours in our flag.
