‘The teachers here are dedicated and well-qualified’

Her son has been studying at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, since nursery. Having spent his early school years here, he is familiar and comfortable with the environment. Choosing this school came naturally to this family because their elder son also studied here. “I was happy and satisfied with his experience, so choosing the same school for the younger one was easy,” Ashima Jyoti said, whose son, Abhijai, is now in Class VI here.

In a candid interview, she describes his academic performance, among other things.

How has your son adjusted to the transition from primary to middle school?

He has adjusted well and is doing well academically. The teachers are hard-working, dedicated and well-qualified, which has made the transition easier for him.

Do you receive regular feedback about your son’s progress?

Yes, I receive proper feedback during the parent-teacher meetings. These interactions help me understand how he is performing and adjusting to his classes. He doesn’t need any tuition classes. I help him with his studies at home whenever required.

How would you describe his academic performance?

He is among the toppers in his class. English is his favourite subject because he loves reading and spends a considerable amount of time with books. He has good communication skills and can express himself confidently. His interest in reading, along with encouragement from his teachers, has strengthened his spoken English.

Which sports and co-curricular activities does he enjoy?

He enjoys playing football and receives coaching outside of school, even though the school offers classes. He also takes part in Olympiads, school functions, assemblies and other extracurricular activities with interest.

He is also comfortable on stage and does not experience stage fright. He willingly participates in school assemblies and functions whenever he gets an opportunity.

How does the school encourage his interests?

His teachers recognise and encourage his interests. His class teacher knows that he loves reading and is good at spoken English. She recently gifted him a book, which made him feel appreciated and encouraged him to read more.

How effective is communication between parents and the school?

Communication with the school is good. Through the parents’ app, we can schedule appointments with teachers, the Vice-principal or the Principal, making it easier to discuss concerns directly.

What stands out most about Apeejay School?

For me, the faculty stands out. The teachers are hard-working and dedicated, and they make a sincere effort to support students in their learning.

What makes the school the right choice for your son?

He has been here since nursery and has developed a good circle of friends. He is comfortable in the school environment and has grown academically and socially. His English has improved, while his teachers continue to encourage his love of reading.
