A Sufi Experience for Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park kids
Students immerse in a transcendent musical journey at the SPIC MACAY Qawwali concert held at Apeejay School, Saket.
SPIC MACAY has long been a torchbearer of Indian cultural heritage, and when it brings together the enchanting tradition of Qawwali, it becomes an unmissable celebration of music, poetry, and philosophy. Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, ever eager to embrace avenues of artistic learning, recently participated in one such profound experience.
Five students—Navyansh Tanwar, Tisya Sehgal, and Aaddhyan Arora from Class 11-A; Manya Narang from Class 11-B; and Mitali from Class 10-B—along with Ms. Rekha Srivastava (PRT Music), attended the SPIC MACAY Qawwali concert hosted by Apeejay School, Saket.
The event featured the renowned Qawwal, Ustad Yousuf Khan Nizami Ji, and his talented ensemble, whose captivating performance brought alive the spiritual richness of Sufi traditions. From the evergreen “Chhap Tilak” to the electrifying “Dum-a-Dum Mast Qalandar”, the school premises reverberated with the rhythms of the tabla, harmonium, and banjo. The ensemble’s musical synergy created an atmosphere of pure ecstasy and soulful harmony.
Reflecting on the experience, Ms. Rekha Srivastava remarked, “Such events go a long way in retelling the timeless message of the Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb—the essence of oneness, peace, and cultural harmony across all diversities. Witnessing Ustad Ji live was a moment of reverence, and the students absorbed immense wisdom through his shayaris and songs.”
The students returned with hearts full of gratitude—towards SPIC MACAY, Apeejay School, Saket, and Ustad Ji—for offering a powerful encounter with India’s rich spiritual and poetic traditions. It was not merely a performance, but a soulful lesson in art, culture, and inner harmony.
