Celebrating the power of mother language 

Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus, Jalandhar hosts a competition marking the celebration

Marking the International Mother Language Day,  the Literary and Dramatics Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently organised a poetical recitation competition. This annual observance serves as a reminder of the significance of linguistic diversity.

This year’s International Mother Language Day theme was, “Language Matter: Silver Jubilee Celebration of International Mother Language Day”. The theme emphasised on showcasing the efforts of promoting linguistic diversity, protecting endangered languages and encouraging multilinguistic education.

The students of BBA, BCA, BCom (H), BTech (CSE), MBA, MCA – all three schools within the institute were enthusiastically encouraged to participate in this poetical recitation competition. The competition provided a platform for students to showcase their linguistic prowess, reflecting on the theme’s significance.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, extended his heartfelt best wishes to all the participants and congratulated the prize winners for their exemplary contributions. His support and encouragement underscore the institute’s commitment to fostering cultural diversity and promoting linguistic inclusivity among its student body.

Dr. Bagga further added, “The event celebrated the richness of Punjabi language and culture and highlighted the broader importance of multilingual education in nurturing well-rounded learners and facilitating intergenerational knowledge transfer.”

Dr. Rajneesh Arya, Dean, School of Management, highlighted the significance of mother tongue in shaping one’s personality. Citing various examples he brought home the point that proficiency in a mother tongue makes one confident and expressive.

The prize winners of the competition are as follows:

• Meghdeep Kaur and Sukhnandan Kaur both of  MCA IV – First Prize

• Chandanpreet Kaur and Arshdeep Kaur of  BBA IV and BBA II respectively – Second Prize

• Noormiyan and Manmeet Kaur of BBA IV and BCA II respectively – Third Prize

Lastly, Dr. Bagga conveyed his best wishes to the Literary and Dramatics Club for organising the event. The judges of the event were Dr. R.R. Rajan Chaudhary and Dr. Rajneesh Arya. The faculty coordinators of the event were Ms. Kanika Chopra, Mr. Rahul Handa and Ms. Kavita Verma.
