Apeejay faculty receives prestigious Punjab State Award for his outstanding artwork

Dr. Mohinder Kumar Mastana, a distinguished Professor in the Department of Sculpture at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, has been honoured with the prestigious Punjab State Award. The recognition was bestowed upon him during an exhibition organised by KT (Kausa Trust) Amritsar, Punjab.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Padma Shri Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor of Central University, Himachal Pradesh,  showcased diverse forms of art, including painting, sculpture, photography, and digital art, from across Punjab. Out of over 400 submissions, 160 artworks were selected for display, and the top 10 exceptional artists were honoured with the Punjab State Award and cash prizes. 

Dr. Mastana’s submission was an outstanding work titled ‘Wisdom Seekers’ – a composition of three figures made using aluminum metal. Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Mastana expressed, “I am completely overwhelmed and feel an immense sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that my efforts have been recognized at the state level.  This award is a validation of my passion and commitment to my field. I am deeply grateful to my family, friends, and colleagues, who have supported me throughout my journey.”

He further added, “I hope to use this award as a platform to inspire others and to make a positive impact in my community. I am looking forward to the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Certainly, this award is a dream come true and I am extremely thrilled.”                 

Dr. Mastana’s achievement was lauded by Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, who commended his dedication to fine arts. She also emphasised the institution’s commitment to nurturing and preserving fine arts and congratulated Dr. Mastana for his continued excellence.

This recent recognition follows Dr. Mastana’s notable participation in the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, further highlighting his contributions to the field of art and sculpture. His achievements bring immense pride to Apeejay College of Fine Arts and underscore the institution’s legacy in fostering artistic talent.
