The word “technology” is familiar to most of us, but do we truly understand its meaning? The word “technology” originates from two Greek words: “techne” and “logos.” “Techne” conveys the concepts of art, skill, craft, or the way, manner, or means by which something is acquired. Therefore, etymologically, technology can be understood as words or discourse about the means by which things are obtained. Technology encompasses various types such as:

Mechanical

Electronic

Industrial and Manufacturing

Medical

Communications

With such diverse types of technology, it’s essential to explore their specific uses in various occupations. For example:

Mechanical technology: Mechanical Technology centers on concepts and principles within mechanical environments (such as motor, mining, shipping, rail, power generation, etc.) and technological processes. It involves practical skills and the application of scientific principles.

Electronic technology: This category includes devices and equipment like cell phones, computers, tablets, as well as communication tools like social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites.

Industrial technology: Industrial technology primarily supports engineering and manufacturing processes. As a field of study and a career, industrial technology demands a solid grasp of technology, business management skills, and the ability to combine these skills to solve problems and streamline production.

Understanding the diverse facets of technology allows us to appreciate its multifaceted role in our lives and in various industries.
