Born and brought up in Ludhiana, Isha Todi as a kid was always fascinated by how a tag line of an advertisement or a 30-second ad stays in the minds of viewers for so long. Also, how ads influence people and bring change in society. “The creativity, the effort, the work also of it grew my curiosity to learn more about it and pursue a career in this line,” mentions Isha, an alumna of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), who recently bagged a job with  a corporate event company WYSIWYG. In a quick interview, Isha explains how her professors at AIMC groomed candidates for the interview process.

Edited excerpts:

How are you enjoying this new role?

I am working with WYSIWYG, a corporate event company, and I have been offered a client servicing role. But it’s much more than that – everyday new clients, new briefs, new ideas, new creation. All of these make it very interesting!

So, how did you start preparing for the placement process? Did you crack any other company as well?

To be honest, I wasn’t ready to get placed so early. But Pijush sir, Mudita ma’am made sure that if some good offers come I am ready with my resume, portfolio and have the confidence to crack the interview at once. This was the first company that offered me the position and I accepted it.

How did professors at AIMC prepare you for the interviews?

The professors at AIMC put a lot of effort into you. They’ll sit with you to make sure your CV or resume or portfolio is created comprehensively and is upto the mark. Mentors or professors conduct one-on-one sessions to prepare students for the interviews. They encouraged us each time and that gave us the confidence to crack any interview; they are available 24*7.

How can one prepare for a group discussion round?

I didn’t have a group discussion round during my interview, but yes we were prepared for that too. Once or twice a week GDs were conducted in classes.

What are three key things to remember when going for a one-on-one interview?

According to me, the key things are ‘Be Confident’ ‘Be You’, and ‘Be Patient’, because I believe you can’t achieve success without failure.

Where do you see yourself in the coming 5 years?

In the upcoming 5 years, I wish to work on the client side, pitching ideas and creating new creative solutions.
