Passion and perseverance pay off! Mumbai boy aces JEE Advanced 2023

Cracking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is a dream come true for many aspiring engineers in India. Among the numerous success stories, one name stands out with remarkable achievement: Kundan Maiti, an alumnus of Apeejay School, Nerul in Navi Mumbai. With an All-India rank of 371, Kundan’s dedication, passion for learning, and exceptional abilities are showcased. He scored an impressive 250/360 in the said exams.

From an early age, Kundan displayed an insatiable curiosity for scientific concepts and a desire to unravel the mysteries of the universe. Throughout his academic journey, Kundan consistently demonstrated a thirst for knowledge, actively engaging in classroom discussions, and eagerly participating in various extracurricular activities. His teachers admired his diligence, inquisitive nature, and willingness to go beyond the prescribed curriculum to explore advanced concepts. His commitment to excellence and self-improvement set him apart from his peers.

Cracking JEE Advanced: A Remarkable Achievement

The JEE Advanced examination is renowned for its fierce competition and rigorous evaluation process. It tests candidates on their understanding of complex mathematical and scientific concepts, problem-solving abilities, and analytical thinking. Kundan’s exceptional performance in the examination, securing an impressive rank, has rightfully earned him the due recognition.

He says, “I started my preparation at the beginning of class 11. I balanced coaching classes and my classes in the school. I never missed any tests in either of the institutions. It was a delicate balance but I managed.” Most of his preparation for CBSE Class 12 Board examinations was done in the school and all the concepts taught helped him in the competitive examination. Apart from this JEE score, the talented boy secured a whopping 99% in the CBSE examinations.

Besides, his success in JEE Advanced can be attributed to his meticulous preparation, which involved countless hours of studying, solving challenging problems, and seeking guidance from his teachers and mentors. His perseverance, coupled with his strong foundation in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, allowed him to tackle even the most difficult questions with confidence and accuracy.

Adding further, Kundan says, “I have a lot of support from home as well: my father, mother and sister. I discussed my ups and downs with them in these two years and they encouraged me.”

A Continuous Journey of Learning

Interestingly, Kundan re-attempted the JEE Main examinations. He says, “I wanted to improve my overall score. So, from 99.96 percentile in the first attempt, I was able to secure 99.98. My All India Rank also got better. The syllabus for JEE Main and JEE Advanced is pretty much the same. Therefore, I felt I could do it.” He recommends others to give both the attempts as well. “It doesn’t harm your preparation for JEE Advanced,” he emphasises.

With Kundan’s impressive JEE Advanced rank, he has earned his rightful place among the brightest young minds in the country. “I am looking forward to learning new things at the college,” he says. In future, he aspires to do research in the field of Electrical Engineering.  Kundan’s father, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, undoubtedly played a significant role in inspiring his son’s ambition and shaping his academic goals. Coupled with the student’s own dedication and passion, an atmosphere of shared enthusiasm for knowledge and learning was created at home.

For academic accomplishment, the young mind credits all his teachers and mentors. Further, he suggests aspirants to try and avoid using social media and choose social gatherings to be part of. “It may affect your preparation and take away the much needed focus,” according to him.
