The goal of organising a field trip is to provide students learning experiences outside the boundaries of classrooms. Moreover, when students go on an industry trip, they get the opportunity to work on a live project. Thus, for management students industrial visits give them a first-hand practical experience of the concepts that they have learned in the classroom throughout the curriculum.

This is why the Department of Commerce at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar recently organised a field visit to the city’s Verka Milk Plant. As many as 40 students of BBA second semester enthusiastically went for this educational trip. During the trip, students learned about the production of dairy products like milk, butter, ghee, and cream with great enthusiasm. They even understood the entire process, from preparing these products to their packaging and marketing.

While expressing her views about the necessity of this visit, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA said,”In today’s era, it is necessary for the students to have a practical exposure. Only theoretical knowledge isn’t enough for them and so, at Apeejay, we make sure that the students get all these opportunities that lead to their holistic development.”

She further added, “This visit is beneficial for the students, as it provides them with information about the ongoing trends and demands in today’s market.”

For the success of this industrial visit, she highly appreciated the efforts of Dr. Monica Mogla, Head of Department of Commerce, Ms. Sabina and Ms Mitali, and said that such efforts should be made continuously to promote the quality education amongst the students.

Archa, a student of BBA semester 2 expressed, “The industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant was a great learning experience for all of us. We learned about various processes involved in the production of curd, buttermilk, ghee, cheese and milk. All in all, it was an insightful visit.”

Another student of BBA semester 2, Gagandeep Singh, said, “The visit to Verka Milk Plant provided us with a practical understanding of all the production processes. Verka has different products under its name, like curd, kheer, milk, cheese, ghee, etc. I have got the much needed exposure to the industrial environment.”

Meanwhile, Stuti of BBA Semester 2 expressed, “The industrial visit to Verka Milk Plant was full of learning and exposure. Our guide explained us about Verka’s production process, machine working, distribution process, etc. The visit was really educational as we got the chance to learn about the latest technologies. Overall, it was a fun learning visit.”

At the same time, Khushi of BBA semester 2 said, “Visit to Verka Milk Plant was an enriching experience for all the students as we got familiarised with practical aspects of management concepts. We also explored the inner workings of a big organisation such as Verka that offers a wide range of products in the dairy sector, ranging from milk, cheese, curd, kheer, to buttermilk. This visit helped us gain industrial exposure, which was much needed to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical learning.”
