In a dazzling display of festive spirit, Rhythms Kinderworld School, Greater Kailash-II orchestrated a ‘Music & Movement’ programme, transforming the corridors of the school into a musical haven for kindergarteners and their eager parents. The event, a radiant endeavour to enliven the holiday season, unfolded as a meticulously curated tapestry of mysteries, problem-solving, and discoveries.

In this enchanting realm, teachers and school staff immersed themselves in the boundless reservoir of imagination that defines the world of kindergarteners. The event went beyond a typical celebration, inviting children to be not just spectators but protagonists in an ambiance of rhythm and harmony.

The day’s overture commenced with the graceful address of the School Head, Ms Komal Nathani. Her eloquent discourse painted a vivid portrait of the profound importance of music in a child’s life, urging parents to nurture their progeny’s natural instincts and passions.

The programme unfolded as a kaleidoscope of activities, each a gem of excitement for both the young participants and their parents. The first act unfolded as an extraordinary sequence — a musical journey through Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. Students and teachers collaborated joyfully, bringing the antics of animals to life with contagious enthusiasm.

The arena reverberated with the infectious rhythm of Twirl Your Scarf Around, as children twirled in tandem, creating a visually captivating spectacle. Following this delightful sequence was the Jingle Jamboree — a whimsical escapade where children, armed with kitchen utensils, pans, and spoons, crafted melodies from the clinks and clatters, resonating through the hall with creative tunes and leaving the audience in a mesmerised trance.

Speaking about the importance of the event, Ms Nathani shared, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. It acts like a magic key to which the most tightly closed heart opens. In this spirit, children love engaging with Music & Movement in early childhood education. It helps them express their feelings and emotions, learn to work in groups and develop self-confidence and imagination. Interacting with music and movement in early childhood education is part of a child’s everyday routine at Rhythms. It adds colour and fullness to the early childhood curriculum and to a child’s daily experiences.”

According to her, music helps children develop skills like cognitive growth, problem-solving, self-expression and social development. Research into music and movement for children over the last 10 years has indicated positive effects on a young child’s development. Beat, rhythm and tempo stimulate young minds, encouraging pattern recognition and auditory discrimination.

The radiant finale unfolded with Ms Anchal Singh, a renowned singer and special guest, taking the stage. She orchestrated a crescendo of classical English melodies that resounded through the hearts of students and parents alike. The rhythmic spell left them dancing to the harmonious beats, creating a celebration of joy, unity, and the enchanting journey of learning.

The curtains gracefully fell on this festive symphony with a flourish of refreshments and a resounding Vote of Thanks, echoing the sentiment of a splendidly orchestrated Yuletide Celebration. With its ‘Music & Movement’ programme, the institute not only entertained but also encapsulated the essence of learning, creativity, and festive merriment.
