This Jalandhar Institute hosts workshop to build financially smart professionals

The NISM Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, successfully organised an Online Student Development Programme (SDP) on “Financial Literacy Series: Personal Finance Concepts”, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to preparing students with essential life skills beyond the classroom.

The programme focused on empowering students with practical knowledge of personal finance, enabling them to make informed financial decisions and develop responsible money management habits early in their careers. More than 30 students enthusiastically participated in the session, which provided valuable insights into goal-based financial planning, disciplined savings, smart lifestyle spending, and avoiding financial mismanagement.

Designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life financial planning, the session encouraged participants to view financial literacy as a lifelong skill rather than merely an academic concept. Students learned how to set realistic financial goals, prioritise expenses, and develop sustainable saving habits that can help them achieve long-term personal and professional aspirations.

A key highlight of the programme was the discussion on goal-based financial planning. Participants were guided on breaking down long-term financial objectives into manageable milestones by assigning practical timelines and realistic cost estimates. The session also highlighted the importance of budgeting wisely, avoiding unnecessary expenditure, and making informed financial choices to build long-term financial security.

The interactive programme enabled students to understand how disciplined financial planning can positively influence career growth, personal well-being, and future financial independence. Through practical examples and engaging discussions, participants gained a better understanding of managing income, controlling expenses, and planning for significant life goals systematically.

Appreciating the initiative, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, emphasised the importance of financial literacy in shaping responsible professionals. He encouraged students to actively participate in such capacity-building programmes that enhance financial awareness and strengthen essential life skills. He further remarked that such initiatives play a significant role in nurturing financially aware, responsible, and future-ready professionals capable of making sound financial decisions throughout their lives.

The programme also reflected the institute’s ongoing efforts to provide students with holistic education that extends beyond academics by equipping them with practical competencies required in today’s rapidly changing world.
