Safeguarding every child, every day

Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for every child, Apeejay School, Saket organised a comprehensive Child Safety Programme on 17 July 2026 to mark Child Safety Month. The event brought together students, educators, and child protection experts for a day of awareness, learning, and collective responsibility.

The programme commenced with the welcome of distinguished guests, including Ms. Swati Gupta, Member, Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR); Mr. Manoj Pattnaik, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC); and Ms. Vasudha Singh, District Child Protection Officer, DCPU South, along with her team. Principal Dr. Sujeet Eric Masih felicitated the guests, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to formally inaugurate the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Swati Gupta highlighted the shared responsibility of schools, families and communities in safeguarding children’s rights and well-being. She stressed the importance of creating environments where children feel safe, respected, and empowered to speak up. 

A key highlight of the programme was an interactive awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Students were sensitised to child rights, personal safety, recognising unsafe situations, and the importance of reporting concerns to trusted adults. The session encouraged open dialogue and reinforced the significance of awareness in preventing abuse.

Students also attended an engaging session on bullying and child protection, which focused on promoting empathy, mutual respect, and responsible behaviour. Practical strategies to identify, prevent, and address bullying were shared, encouraging students to contribute towards a positive and supportive school culture.

Adding a cultural dimension to the event, students of the Primary Wing presented a vibrant performance titled The Power of Teamwork, highlighting the values of cooperation, trust, and mutual support. The programme also featured the Child Safety Pledge, with students and teachers collectively reaffirming their commitment to building a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.

In his address, Mr. Manoj Pattnaik urged students to stay aware of their rights, trust responsible adults and actively contribute to creating a safer society. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Ms. Ashu Khattar, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for making the initiative informative, meaningful, and impactful.
