This traditional dance, deeply entwined with the auspicious festival of Navaratri, holds profound significance in the hearts of millions across the subcontinent. With its roots tracing back centuries, dandiya is more than a dance; it is a cultural embodiment of the triumph of good over evil, a vibrant expression of joy, and a timeless tradition that brings communities together in jubilant harmony.

In a vibrant spectacle of cultural exuberance, Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town in Jalandhar, played host to a resplendent ‘Dandiya Dhoom’ recently. This festive extravaganza, steeped in tradition and revelry, unfolded against the backdrop of the luminous lamp-lighting ceremony.
Embracing Tradition:
The beating heart of this event lay in its celebration of the age-old tradition of Navaratri, a festival of devotion and dance that holds profound significance in Indian culture. Navaratri, spanning nine nights and ten days, venerates the divine feminine energies. Dandiya, a spirited folk dance form, is an integral part of these festivities, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
A Kaleidoscope of Activities:

The ambiance was electric, with the air resonating with the rhythmic clatter of dandiya sticks. The event at Apeejay featured a captivating array of dance performances, each a testament to the spirit of unity and celebration. Various stalls, laden with traditional crafts and delectable fare, offered a sensory delight for attendees.
A Joyous Gathering:
The assembly, comprising students from pre-nursery to ninth grade, along with their parents, formed a sea of eager faces, all agog with anticipation. The presence of the illustrious Manpreet Singh, a luminary in Indian field hockey, and his gracious wife, elevated the event to new heights.
Stellar Guests:

Adding to the star-studded affair were luminaries such as the distinguished gynecologist, Dr Sushma Chawla and the venerable star choreographer Rajan Syal. Their infectious energy and engaging games not only enthralled the audience but also coaxed even the most reticent to join the revelry.
Dignitaries in Attendance:
The event saw the august presence of Malkiat Singh, the erudite Principal of Apeejay School Model Town, whose benevolent guidance has been instrumental in shaping young minds. Headmistress Pre-primary, Nidhi Ghai, and a coterie of dedicated teachers graced the occasion, ensuring that every moment was etched in the annals of memory.

A Gateway to Cultural Immersion:
For the children, ‘Dandiya Dhoom’ provided a unique window into the rich Indian tradition. These celebrations not only fostered a sense of belonging but also imbued in them a deeper appreciation for the mosaic of cultures that define our nation.
According to Sakshi Sehgal, mother of an Apeejay student Krishiv who attended the programme, “Our family had a great experience and embraced the beauty of Navaratri with ‘Dandiya Dhoom’. Our kid learnt more about such festivities. Besides, we played tambola and feasted on the big day.”
A Symphony of Joy and Jubilance:
As the event drew to a close, the air was laden with an ineffable sense of contentment. Laughter and camaraderie resounded, serving as a testament to the success of this festivity. ‘Dandiya Dhoom’ at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town, Jalandhar, was more than an event; it was an ode to the enduring spirit of unity and festivity that binds us all.
