The pursuit of one’s dreams is an enduring journey, and for Jasnoor Kaur, an alumna of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, this journey took an unexpected turn. Despite her academic background in psychology, Jasnoor found herself drawn to sculpturing, inspired by the creative spirit of her grandfather.

In a single bold move, she translated her passion into action, transforming a mere attempt into the foundation of a burgeoning entrepreneurial venture. Currently, Jasnoor actively oversees a 3D Hand & Feet Casting studio right from the comfort of her home. In doing so, she has not only followed her passion but has also turned it into a gratifying and prosperous endeavor.

In a candid interview, Jasnoor gives us great insight into how ACFA helped shape her career

Tell us about yourself.

I completed a BA in Psychology from ACFA, where I not only gained a comprehensive understanding of the subject but also acquired additional skills in diverse areas like Home Science, Art, and Sculpture. Building on my passion for sculpturing, I have recently launched my venture. Alongside this, I’ve established a home studio specialising in 3D hand and foot casting.

How long it has been since you started with this business?

It’s very recent. In September 2023, I started my business. At first, I used to work from home but in December, I started with my studio. The establishment of my studio has helped me attract and retain a diverse and satisfied customer base.

What motivated you to come up with this business idea?

It was the time when my grandfather was keeping unwell. I wanted to make some memorable moments to make him feel special. Initially, I considered taking external help, but I suddenly realised that with my sculpturing skills, I could undertake this personally. Taking a leap of faith, I decided to give it a try, and to my delight, it turned out to be a successful shot.

How do you build your network and customers?

These days social media and digitisation have made everything easy. To attract more customers, I make use of digital marketing. I invest in Instagram and Facebook marketing for the same.

How did ACFA shape your career?

It has been instrumental in shaping my journey thus far. All the mentors were very nice and supportive. They have taught me many things.  Moreover, they were the real guiding hand, especially during assignments.

Fond memories from your college days.

I fondly reminisce about my Home Science classes. Exploring the culinary arts together, we felt delighted in preparing a variety of dishes. Every moment spent in college was filled with joy and fond memories.

Tips for aspiring business entrepreneurs?

Be open to trying new things, and welcome every opportunity that comes your way; take it as a chance for personal growth and discovery.
