These states have shut down schools amid Covid-19 surge

With Covid cases rising in the country including the Omicron variant, several states have shut down the schools conducting classes in physical mode. Here we have brought you the complete list of states that have announced the closure of schools.

Delhi
A yellow alert has been raised in Delhi because of the rising Covid-19. As part of the latest restrictions that have been released, schools and colleges will again be closed for safety purposes.

Haryana
After witnessing a sharp surge in the Omicron cases, the Haryana government ordered that all the government, government aided and private schools in the state would remain closed from December 25, 2017 to January 8, 2018 on account of winter vacations.

Uttar Pradesh
The schools in several areas of Uttar Pradesh such as Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida have been shut down due to a surge in Omicron cases in the state.

Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu Schools have been closed for classes 1 to 8 due to rising COVID-19 cases. Guidelines have been revised for TN Colleges and students of classes 9 to 12 as the government has imposed new curbs.

Odisha
Amid a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases, the Odisha government recently said that it was withholding its decision to reopen schools for students of Classes 1 to 5 from January 1. However, students of classes 6 to 10 are required to attend physical lessons.

Rajasthan
The government of Rajasthan has decided to shut the schools in Jaipur for the students of Classes 1 to 8 due to rising Omicron cases in the state.

West Bengal
Starting January 3, the schools and colleges in West Bengal have been closed.
