Apeejay School, Kharghar believes in providing a holistic educational experience that nurtures both academic and extracurricular excellence. Apeejay Newsroom recently had the pleasure of speaking with the mother of Jaskaran Singh Sokhi, a 12th-grade student, and Harleen, a 9th grader, to get her perspective on their journey at Apeejay. Here’s what she shared with us:
Read edited excerpts:
Why did you choose Apeejay School for your children?
When we moved to Navi Mumbai, Apeejay School, Kharghar was highly recommended by many friends. They spoke about its holistic approach to education. I wanted a school that could provide a balanced focus on academics and extracurricular activities, and Apeejay seemed perfect for that.

How has Apeejay contributed to Jaskaran’s development?
Jaskaran joined Apeejay in 2nd grade and was quite introverted at first. Over the years, the school’s environment has helped him open up and become more confident. The morning sessions and various activities encouraged him to speak publicly and develop his social skills. Now, he’s much more outgoing and comfortable in social settings.
What academic stream has Jaskaran chosen, and how did the school help with that decision?
Jaskaran has taken up Science with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). Choosing between Science and Commerce was tough, but the principal and teachers were very supportive and guided us through the decision-making process. Their advice was invaluable.
How does Harleen manage her academics and sports?
Harleen is very active in sports and has represented the state in handball and football. Balancing sports and academics can be challenging, but the teachers at Apeejay have been incredibly supportive. They provide extra classes and allow her to take tests she missed due to tournaments. This flexibility helps her keep up with both her studies and sports.
Can you tell us more about Harleen’s achievements in sports?
Harleen has been a sports captain and has excelled in handball and football. She’s travelled for various state-level competitions, which has made her very independent and confident. The school’s support has been crucial in her development as an athlete.

How do the teachers at Apeejay support your children’s academic growth?
The teachers are very proactive in identifying areas where students need help. For instance, Harleen initially struggled with Maths, but with extra help from her teachers, she has improved significantly. The personalised attention and additional classes have been very beneficial.
How does Apeejay facilitate communication between teachers and parents?
The communication is excellent. Teachers use WhatsApp to keep us updated, and notes in the diary ensure we are aware of our children’s progress and any areas that need attention. This constant communication helps us support our children better.
What are some of the new initiatives at Apeejay that excite you?
The new football turf is something the students are very excited about. It’s great to see the school investing in sports infrastructure. I hope this will encourage more girls to take up football and that we will soon have a girls’ football team.
Would you recommend Apeejay school, Kharghar to other parents?
Absolutely! Apeejay provides a balanced education that nurtures both academics and extracurricular talents. I’ve seen my children grow and thrive here, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a school that supports overall development.
How do Jaskaran and Harleen support each other?
They have a typical sibling relationship with their share of fights, but they also support each other, especially in sports. Jaskaran often advises Harleen on her game, and being in the same school has helped them bond and support each other’s growth.
Any final thoughts on your children’s journey at Apeejay?
I’m very grateful to the teachers and staff at Apeejay for their constant support and encouragement. They have played a significant role in shaping my children’s future. I’m confident that Apeejay will continue to be a great influence on their lives.
