In the realm of academic brilliance, a shining star has emerged from Apeejay School, Noida. Bhavya Tiwari, a class 12 Science – Medical student, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and an exceptional talent in science and mathematics, has risen to become a true Olympiad champ. His remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on the academic community.
How did it begin?
Bhavya’s journey to success started with his participation in the Science Olympiad Foundation in class 8. It is an educational foundation, established in 1998, based in New Delhi, India which promotes science, mathematics, general knowledge, introductory computer education and English language skills among school children in India and many other countries through various Olympiads. “Most of such sites have openings and detailed materials about the Olympiad competitions. I actively search them up and participate in it. I like to go for both subjective and objective ones to enhance my knowledge,” says the achiever.
From the outset, it was evident that Bhavya possessed a unique set of skills. His acute observation, analytical prowess, and natural problem-solving abilities catapulted him to the top of competitions, earning him several honours. Amongst the many others, he was a proud recipient of the International Rank 1 in Science Olympiad for he received a gold medal, merit certificate and a cash prize of INR 50,000.

Was it a win-win situation?
Yes! He also secured International Rank 3 in a Math Olympiad, bagging a bronze medal, merit certificate and a cash prize of INR 10,000. Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, in the 23rd Asian Physics Olympiad (APHO), which took place in Ulaanbaatar from May 22 to 28, he received an honourable mention. “My visit to Mongolia was quite enriching. The country is culturally rich. I had the chance to explore many historic and cultural places there and interacted with my peers from different countries,” he says.
Bhavya attended the Science Olympiad Foundation’s International Award Function at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi too. At the event, he was applauded, appreciated and awarded for his commendable and laudable achievements. His initial triumph ignited a fire within him to explore his capabilities further.

What went into the preparation?
Undeterred by challenges, Bhavya dove headfirst into the world of Olympiad competitions. It was in the Science Olympiad where he truly excelled consistently, securing top positions and garnering widespread acclaim. His peers marvelled at his ability to connect seemingly unrelated concepts, unravel complex equations, and present elegant solutions. His teachers were equally astounded, praising the depth of his understanding and his effortless grasp of abstract mathematical concepts. “Amongst the subjects in the school, Physics is my strongest,” he says. Besides, he likes to delve deeper and understand his concepts thoroughly. He doesn’t shy away from learning from all valid and available sources, be it a book, website or research paper. He also attends training camps to prepare himself further for such Olympiads.
But Bhavya’s talents extend beyond mere academic excellence. In his free-time, the champion loves to play chess and table tennis.

What is his way forward?
Bhavya’s exceptional performance in Olympiad competitions has attracted the attention of educators, mentors, and even national authorities. He became a beacon of inspiration for his peers, demonstrating that dedication, hard work, and a genuine passion for learning can lead to extraordinary accomplishments. “Systematic hard work is needed to ace Olympiads. In the case of the International ones, the preparation is different. Therefore, endurance is necessary too,” says Bhavya. In future, he will appear for NEET and JEE examinations and pick his profession as per his strengths.
Behind Bhavya’s success lies a strong support system. His parents and teachers played an instrumental role in nurturing his talents, providing the encouragement and guidance necessary for him to flourish. Apeejay School, known for its academic excellence and nurturing environment, created the perfect platform for Bhavya to hone his skills and excel in his chosen fields. As the student continues on his remarkable journey, it is clear that he possesses the qualities of a true champion.
