Students unleash their talent and creativity in ‘SPARK 2023’ 

Around 1200 students from 35 different colleges across Punjab showcased their talent in this inter-college competition held at the AIMETC campus

The Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, was pumping with enthusiasm. The institute recently organised an inter-college event ‘APEEJAY SPARK 2023’ in which around 1200 students from 35 different colleges across Punjab exhibited their talent. 

The event started with a soulful bhajan rendition, which was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, in the presence of other dignitaries.

Dr. Bagga in his address welcomed the dignitaries, jury members for gracing the occasion with their presence. Conveying his best wishes to all the participants, he expressed, “Apeejay Spark is held every year to provide young students an opportunity to bring out their innate capabilities. Such events are organised not only to provide a platform or to foster a sense of healthy competition among students, but also to appreciate young talent and bring to students the level of excellence in various areas.”

The students were also acquainted with the academic and co-curricular achievements, placement laurels brought by AIMETC students and the research endeavours made by the faculty. After the inaugural ceremony, the students from various colleges like GNDU College Pathankot, Khalsa College Jalandhar, Government College Hoshiarpur, HMV College Jalandhar, DAV College Jalandhar, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, KMV College Jalandhar, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar geared up for the competitions.

Vying for top positions in as many as 22 different competitions such as Ad Mad Show, Debate, Business Plan, Net Savvy, LAN Gaming, Logic Testing, Moving It Around the Slides, On the Spot Painting competition, Debugging, Street Play Competition, Folk Dance, Poster Making and so on, participants  showcased their communication, managerial and technical skills during the event. 

Sharing his experience of participating, Aadeesh Kumar Dubeyl, an MBA student said, “Along with my hostel friends I had installed a food stall that served rajma rice for all the students and teachers. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. We wanted to deliver quality food by using efficient marketing strategies that we learnt in our courses. Everyone loved the management and food offered by us.”

Another MBA student Anuj Thapa shared, “Apeejay SPARK 2023 was an awe-inspiring event hosted by AIMETC, where students from various colleges and institutes participated in the plethora of events and showcased their talents. Being the host of the event, I witnessed a great zeal and enthusiasm among all the students who participated.”

Events like Nukkad Natak depicted sensitive social, economic and political issues like ‘Rising Corruption’, ‘Indifferent attitude towards transgenders’ and ‘Mental Health’, which were highly appreciated by the judges. Managerial and Analytical skills were highlighted through events like Ad-Mad Show and Business Plan. Students participated with full zeal and their extensive research on the subject was evident from the way they answered all the questions. 

The two-day extravaganza ended with a scintillating group dance performance. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony. Dr. Rajesh Bagga presented mementoes to the dignitaries. Lastly, Mr. Rajiv Bharadwaz, Coordinator for Apeejay SPARK 2023 extended the vote of thanks.
