The Budget 2023-24 hopes to build on the foundation laid in the previous Budget, and the blueprint drawn for [email protected] India is envisioned to become a prosperous and inclusive country, in which the fruits of development reach all regions and citizens, especially the youth, women, farmers, OBCs, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The world has recognised the Indian economy as a ‘bright star’ and the current year’s economic growth is estimated to be at 7 per cent.

Further, this Budget adopts seven priorities that complement each other and act as the ‘Saptarishi’ guiding India through the ‘Amrit Kaal’. The seven priorities include: Inclusive Development, Reaching the Last Mile, Infrastructure and Investment, Unleashing the Potential, Green Growth, Youth Power, and Financial Sector.

Thus with the purpose of making the budding professionals understand the Union Budget, the Finance Club of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus in Jalandhar organised a  live screening of the Budget 2023-24 presented by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Dr. Anu Sahi, Convenor, and Ms. Hardeep Kaur, Coordinator of Finance Club were the key coordinators who organised this activity.

The idea was to make the students familiar with the Budget presentation and encourage them to learn to identify the key points from the Budget. Students from various courses such as B. Com (H), BBA and MBA attended the live screening. The students were asked to download the Budget document for reference from the official source provided to them.

The students were happy to attend the live screening and appreciated the new #budget and its futuristic vision to not just strengthen education in India, but lead to an overall economic development.

After attending the session, MBA student Samish said, “It was a great learning opportunity. We were happy to learn about the new income tax slabs and rules, items which got cheaper and those got dearer. In our MBA course, we will be working on financial projects and the budget led us to brainstorm new ideas for the same. How our research project will have an impact on society.”

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director at AIMETC appreciated the efforts of the coordinators and also motivated the students to analyse the takeaways from Union Budget 2023.
