President Ram Nath Kovind said that November 7 should be observed as the Students Day across the country to commemorate the importance attached by B R Ambedkar to education. “November 7 is celebrated as the Students Day in schools in Maharashtra to commemorate the day when Babasaheb Ambedkar had enrolled in a school in 1900. This initiative should be replicated in the entire country,” he said.  President Ram Nath Kovind recently visited Ambadawe, known as the “Sphurti bhumi” (land of inspiration), the ancestral village of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.  BR Ambedkar was a scholar, a social reformer and a leader who dedicated his life to eradicating social inequality in India. He also served as chairman of the drafting committee of the Constitution of India.
