Workshops and sessions are vital for MBA students as they offer practical exposure to industry trends, networking opportunities, and skill development. These events bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, enhancing students’ understanding of modern business practices. Attending such sessions also helps in developing soft skills like communication and teamwork, essential for leadership roles, and provides insights into emerging technologies and methodologies relevant to their careers.

Keeping this in mind Apeejay School of Management (ASM) Dwarka recently organised an engaging session for the students specialising in Operations Management. The resource person for the day was Mr. Prasanna Manda, a SAFe Release Train Engineer at The Toronto-Dominion Bank, USA, who conducted the session virtually. The one-hour lecture focused on Agile Project Management Methodology, an approach designed to improve on the traditional waterfall model used in software development.

Mr. Manda introduced key concepts such as Sprints and outlined the roles crucial to Agile’s success. He further elaborated on the two primary frameworks within Agile—Scrum and Kanban. He explained how Scrum involves structured, time-boxed sprints with regular feedback loops, making it suitable for projects with rapidly changing requirements. Kanban, on the other hand, focuses on visualising tasks in a continuous flow, offering flexibility for teams working on ongoing projects without fixed deadlines. The differences and appropriate applications of each method were thoroughly discussed, helping students understand how to choose between the two based on project needs.

The session concluded with an interactive quiz that tested students’ grasp of the topics covered. This engaging element added a practical layer to the learning experience, reinforcing key Agile concepts and sparking lively discussion among the participants.

Overall, the event was an insightful and enriching experience, providing students with practical knowledge of Agile methodology and its application in the real world. Through Mr. Manda’s expertise, students gained valuable insights into modern project management techniques, preparing them for future challenges in the industry.
