Community outreach events are essential in fostering empathy, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility among students. They provide invaluable opportunities to engage with diverse communities, promote inclusivity, and inspire meaningful action. Such initiatives help students understand the transformative power of kindness and the importance of contributing to the greater good.
On January 4, 2025, the Interact Club of Apeejay School, Saket, demonstrated the true spirit of service and compassion by visiting “Pehchaan,” a street school operating from a local temple in Indraprastha. This street school provides education to underprivileged children, many of whom either attend conventional schools or have dropped out due to various socio-economic challenges. The school’s teaching workforce comprises dedicated volunteers, interns, and college students who selflessly contribute their time to nurture these young minds.

In the weeks leading up to the visit, the Interact Club organised a thoughtful donation drive within the school premises to collect woollens, stationery, and other essential supplies. The overwhelming response from the school community highlighted their collective commitment to making a difference. These donations were thoughtfully packaged and distributed among the children at “Pehchaan” during the visit.
The highlight of the event was the interaction between the students of Apeejay School and the children at “Pehchaan.” Our students not only distributed the collected items but also engaged in teaching sessions, sharing knowledge and exchanging smiles with these enthusiastic learners. Witnessing the joy and eagerness of the children at “Pehchaan” was a heartwarming experience that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
Through this visit, the motto of the Interact Club, “Service Beyond Self,” truly came alive. It was a powerful reminder of the values of sharing and caring that form the cornerstone of the club’s mission. The event also served as a valuable learning opportunity for Apeejay students, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and understand the importance of empathy and social responsibility.

As the students returned to school, they carried with them not just memories of laughter and connection but also a renewed sense of purpose. This visit reinforced their belief in the transformative power of kindness and underscored the impact of small actions in creating a ripple effect of positivity and change.
The Interact Club’s visit to “Pehchaan” stands as a testament to the importance of giving back to society and inspiring others to join in the mission of uplifting those in need.
