The students and staff members at Apeejay School, Rama Mandipaid a floral tribute to Dr Stya Paul, founder chairman of Apeejay Education, in a special prayer meet, on his 12th death anniversary.

Sangeeta Nistandra, the school principal, talked about Dr Paul’s life, teachings, and philosophy. She administered an oath to the students to work hard with the belief, “I can, and I will”. She urged students to follow the noble path that the revered founder built with his hard work, grit, and determination.

Vice-principal Aarti Shorey Bhat further introduced the students to Dr Paul’s collection of favourite couplets in a book titled ‘Reflections of Time’. She recited some of them and encouraged students to read the book.

The school choir, led by their music teacher Nidhi Sharma, sang Dr Paul’s favourite bhajans and hymns. The students were also shown a video on Dr Stya Paul’s life, which inspired them deeply.

Sukhmanjot Kaur Mattu and Simarpreet Kaur from class 11 shared Dr Paul’s vision with the audience and highlighted his simplistic approach to life.

At Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, the Punya tithi ceremony was inaugurated by principal Sinia Sajith. Melodious bhajans were sung by music teacher Amita to honour the late chairman. Teachers and other staff members paid him homage. The ceremony ended with a speech by the school principal.

Dr Stya Paul was an eminent industrialist, educationist, and philanthropist. Throughout his career, he was actively associated with various social and cultural bodies. He realised quite early the role that industry could play in providing quality education, which, in turn, would contribute to nation-building. He started with a small school in Jalandhar in 1967 and went on to realise his dream of setting up not-for-profit educational institutions in India. Today, Apeejay boasts of a large number of schools and institutions for higher education, spread across various Indian cities.

Dr Paul retained his zeal for hard work even in his advanced age. He passed away on June 7, 2010.

Life didn’t get much easier or more forgiving for Dr. Stya Paul. He grew stronger and more resilient. Resilience is one of the most important skills in life. We all face difficulties, challenges, and setbacks, but resilience is what determines whether we fight through it and grow, or whether cave in and let those challenges defeat us. The brilliant thing is that we all have the ability to access our inherent mental strength and Dr Stya Paul personified resilience and his philosophy to rise and shine against all odds will be a guiding force for generations to come.”

-Sangeeta Nistandra, principal, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi

“Through his vision, determination, and perseverance, Dr Stya Paul led Apeejay to greater heights. He has been our guiding light and our constant source of inspiration.”

-Sinia Sajith, principal, Apeejay School, Model Town
